Develop strategy. Create impact.

A good strategy provides orientation. Its impact comes from clear decisions and acting together.

I support managing directors and leadership teams in developing strategies and creating the conditions for their successful execution.

This is for you if …

  • … you lack a shared strategic direction.

There are plenty of ideas and options. But which priorities really count, and what you deliberately leave aside, has not been decided yet.

  • … the strategy is set, but execution has stalled.

The direction is clear. Yet day to day there is a lack of binding responsibilities, collaboration across units or the right structures to move forward together.

  • … growth has outpaced your organisation.

What worked with 30 people no longer holds at 150. More and more decisions land back on your desk.

  • … your leadership team discusses a lot but decides too little.

The same topics keep coming back to the table. Responsibility remains unclear and important decisions get postponed.

  • … a major transition lies ahead.

New management, succession, a merger or changing market conditions: you need orientation and a shared direction for the next steps.

What we work on together

Strategy Development

Shared direction. Clear priorities. Binding decisions.

Where should your company go? Which opportunities do you want to seize? What will you deliberately leave aside?

I guide managing directors and leadership teams in clarifying strategic options, setting priorities and making sound decisions about their future direction.

The result

A clear strategic direction, binding priorities and goals that leadership and the organisation can orient themselves by.

Typical formats and tools

  • Strategic positioning review
  • Strategy retreats and leadership offsites
  • Strategy canvas and target picture
  • Strategic priorities and annual goals
  • Translation into unit goals

Strategy Execution

Strategic decisions become shared action.

A strategy has impact when it changes how the organisation acts. That takes more than action plans and regular progress reviews.

I support you in translating strategic goals into concrete initiatives and in creating the conditions for their execution: through effective leadership, clear responsibilities, collaboration across units and suitable structures and processes.

The result

An organisation that pursues its strategic priorities day to day, makes progress visible and can respond to change.

Typical formats and tools

  • Quarterly execution support
  • Strategic steering processes
  • Leadership offsites and executive team development
  • Collaboration across units
  • Organisation design and responsibilities
  • Sparring for managing directors

Three decisive levers

  • Leadership

Giving direction, making decisions and taking responsibility.

  • Collaboration

Working together across unit boundaries, resolving conflicts and achieving results together.

  • Organisation

Designing roles, responsibilities, structures and processes so that they enable effective action.

From practice

Selected examples of my work with managing directors, boards and leadership teams. All examples are anonymised.

German state bank From strategic decision to execution capability

The challenge

The board had decided on strategic top initiatives. To execute them, clear structures, responsibilities and the necessary capabilities had to be built.

My contribution

Advising the board, building steering structures, and developing and delivering enablement formats for those responsible.

The result

Within nine months the initiatives were operational, with clear structures and qualified owners.

Family-owned group of companies Translating a shared target picture into concrete unit goals

The challenge

The group, with around 600 employees, had a long-term target picture. Day to day, however, the units pursued different priorities. Goal conflicts made collaboration difficult.

My contribution

Supporting management and the owner in developing and executing the strategy, translating the strategy into unit goals and working with a cross-functional team.

The result

The strategic direction was translated into concrete, measurable unit goals. Goal conflicts became visible and could be worked on together.

Staffing services company Clarifying growth areas and anchoring them in the leadership team

The challenge

After years of growth, the managing director wanted to shape the next phase strategically and give his leadership team more responsibility.

My contribution

Developing the strategy together, identifying and prioritising growth areas, and sparring with and supporting the leadership team.

The result

The key growth areas were named, prioritised and anchored in the leadership team.

How I work

Create clarity. Decide with commitment. Act together.

Strategic clarity and good decisions are the foundation. For them to produce results, the organisation also has to be able to act on them.

That is why I combine strategy work with developing leadership, collaboration and organisation. We clarify not only goals and priorities, but also work on the conditions for their execution: responsibilities, decision paths, cooperation and suitable structures and processes.

I take your specific situation as the starting point. We work pragmatically, with clear results and in manageable steps. We regularly review what works and develop strategy and organisation accordingly.

Portrait of Andreas Hertel

Andreas Hertel

Good strategies do not come from planning alone. Their impact shows in daily business.

A strategy becomes effective when people take responsibility and act together. For that they need orientation, clear roles and an organisation that enables collaboration.

For more than 20 years I have worked with managing directors and leadership teams on strategy, leadership and organisational development. At Europace AG I was responsible for the organisational transformation, so I also know the challenges of strategic change from the inside.

Today I support mid-sized companies and larger organisations in developing and executing their strategy. I look not only at goals and measures, but also at how decisions are made, how responsibility is taken and how collaboration works.

I work collaboratively, pragmatically and clearly: I listen closely, ask uncomfortable questions too, and bring structure and an outside view. My clients make the strategic decisions themselves.
